Transport Services
Derby Aboriginal Health Service provides transport support to help Aboriginal people access DAHS health services when transport is a barrier to care.
Our transport service is available for DAHS clients attending appointments and accessing health related services coordinated through the clinic. This includes assistance with travel to and from DAHS appointments and delivery of medications where required.
Transport services are provided exclusively for DAHS health care purposes and are not available for personal errands or non health related travel.
Accessing transport
To access DAHS transport services, please contact the clinic directly or speak with reception when you are attending the clinic. Our team will help determine availability and arrange transport where appropriate.
What transport support includes
DAHS transport services may support clients with:
- Travel to and from DAHS clinic appointments
- Transport to health related appointments arranged through DAHS
- Delivery of medications to eligible DAHS clients
*Availability may vary depending on demand and operational capacity.

Patient Assisted Travel Scheme (PATS)
The Patient Assisted Travel Scheme supports eligible country residents who need to travel long distances to access specialist medical care that is not available locally.
PATS provides a subsidy to assist with some travel and accommodation costs associated with specialist appointments. It does not usually cover all expenses.
Applications for PATS assistance are made by the referring medical practitioner.
If you think you may be eligible for PATS support, please speak with your DAHS doctor or clinic staff for more information.
For further details about the scheme, visit the Patient Assisted Travel Scheme website.
