Connected Beginnings Program
The Connected Beginnings Program at Derby Aboriginal Health Service (DAHS) supports Aboriginal families and children from pregnancy through early childhood, ensuring strong foundations for lifelong health and wellbeing. The program focuses on culturally safe care, early intervention, and family-centred support to give children the best possible start in life.
Connected Beginnings provides guidance and support for expectant mothers, including antenatal care, nutrition advice, and preparation for birth. After birth, the program supports families with child health checks, growth monitoring, immunisations, and developmental screenings. By focusing on early intervention, DAHS helps families identify and address potential health concerns before they become more serious.
The program offers education and practical guidance for parents and caregivers on topics such as nutrition, breastfeeding, safe sleeping, oral health, and early learning. By empowering families with knowledge and resources, Connected Beginnings helps parents make informed choices that positively impact their child’s growth, development, and overall wellbeing.
