Our Clinic Locations

The Derby Aboriginal Health Service (DAHS) supports seven neighbouring remote Aboriginal communities across the West Kimberley region, ensuring that everyone has access to quality healthcare and essential services close to home.

Jarlmadangah Burru

Location: 86km Southeast of Derby

Jarlmadangah Burru Aboriginal Community is located southeast of Derby and is recognised for its strong social values and commitment to the continuation of Nyikina Mangala Law and Culture.

The community is home to a range of facilities including a community office, school, women’s centre, tourism ventures and community development programs. Its alcohol and drug free policy, strong leadership and focus on culture have supported long term community strength and growth.

Derby Aboriginal Health Service delivers services to Jarlmadangah Burru through clinical care, population health programs and social and emotional wellbeing support, working alongside community leadership to meet local needs.

Pandanus Park

Location: 60km South of Derby

DAHS provides visiting health services to the community, with a doctor and nurse attending weekly to deliver primary health care and ongoing support for community members.

Kupungarri

Location: 300km Northeast of Derby

Kupungarri community is located at Mount Barnett on the Gibb River Road, approximately 300 kilometres east of Derby.

The community includes housing, a school and a clinic, with a population that varies throughout the year. Health services are delivered from a recently renovated clinic facility with dedicated treatment and office spaces.

Two registered nurses are based at Kupungarri, with a visiting doctor attending monthly. Clinic services are provided regularly, and nursing staff also support surrounding communities through outreach visits.

Staff are trained to respond to urgent and life-threatening situations, ensuring essential care is available in remote conditions.

Mount Barnett is a working cattle station owned by the Kupungarri community. The community also owns and operates the Mount Barnett Roadhouse, which provides food and essential supplies for travellers and residents.

Imintji

Location: 220km East of Derby

Imintji is a small community with a local store. Health services are delivered through regular outreach visits by Kupungarri based nursing staff, providing primary health care and follow up support for community members.

Dodnun

Location: 280-350km Northeast of Derby

Dodnun is a remote community supported by DAHS through regular outreach visits. Residents access general health care, chronic disease support, and health education via the local clinic to maintain the community’s overall wellbeing.

Kandiwal

Location: 635km East of Derby

DAHS staff visit Kandiwal approximately every six weeks to provide primary health services, allied health care, and social and emotional wellbeing support, ensuring equitable access to healthcare despite the community’s remote location.
